Rodrygo clarifies Real Madrid admission after Liverpool put on $130m transfer alert
Rodrygo suggested earlier this week that his future may lie elsewhere. Liverpool has previously been tipped to make a move for the Real Madrid and Brazil ace.
Real Madrid ace Rodrygo insists he has no plans to leave the Bernabeu after fueling transfer speculation earlier this week. The 23-year-old has helped Real to the Champions League final but his future is uncertain going into next season.
Real is expected to confirm the arrival of Kylian Mbappé while a deal for Brazilian superstar Endrick has also been agreed. It has left many questioning if Rodrygo could be the man to make way.
Rodrygo was linked with Liverpool back in 2017 but rejected the opportunity to move to Anfield for just $3.3m (£2.6m/€3m) before he eventually ended up at the Bernabeu.
But the player has since clarified those comments, insisting: "Some of my words were taken out of context. I'm very happy at Real Madrid, it's a dream to be here, I'm not planning to leave at all. Now, let's focus on the 15th Champions League."
Rodrygo is set to start for Carlo Ancelotti's side at Wembley this weekend when Real takes on Borussia Dortmund. He has scored 16 goals in all competitions so far this season.
Any deal for Rodrygo was always going to be costly and given the scrutiny over FFP in the Premier League, it was one Liverpool likely couldn't consider. He remains one of the best young talents in world football and Real will want to keep him. That said, the situation could be very different in a year's time.
