Hammers have renewed confidence but Gunners look to have turned a corner
West Ham vs Arsenal LIVE!
West Ham today host Arsenal in another huge Premier League London derby. After a difficult season thus far, the Hammers head into this evening’s clash with renewed confidence following Monday’s surprise 2-0 win at Newcastle. Manager Julen Lopetegui – banned from the touchline this evening after his latest yellow card at St James’ Park – is yet to fully convince but will hope their pressure-easing victory earlier this week offers a platform to quickly improve.
Arsenal, however, will pose a different kind of test entirely. The Gunners may have dropped off alarmingly before the international break but the return of captain Martin Odegaard from injury has seemingly transformed Mikel Arteta’s side. They made light work of Nottingham Forest last week to snap a four-game winless run in the top-flight before thrashing Sporting CP 5-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday to renew hope of a successful season.
With title rivals Liverpool not in action until Sunday and their opponents Manchester City in crisis, Arsenal will hope to capitalise as they bring in both Jorginho and Leandro Trossard with the hosts unchanged. Follow West Ham vs Arsenal live below!
Arsenal without Partey and Merino due to injury
Confirmation from Arsenal on social media as to why midfield duo Thomas Partey and Mikel Merino are not involved this evening.
Are we likely to see an expanded role for fan favourite Ethan Nwaneri off the bench?
West Ham unchanged from Newcastle win
West Ham are unsurprisingly unchanged from their win at Newcastle, with Jean-Clair Todibo passed fit to start in defence.
The only alterations come on the bench, where Edson Alvarez and teenage defender Ezra Mayers replace Aaron Cresswell and Konstantinos Mavropanos.
Jorginho and Trossard start for Arsenal
So Arsenal show two changes from the side that thrashed Sporting CP in Lisbon, with Thomas Partey missing out with a muscle injury and replaced in midfield by Jorginho.
Gabriel Martinelli drops to the bench again as Leandro Trossard starts, as he and Jorginho both did against Nottingham Forest last weekend.
There is no Mikel Merino, who also started against Forest but has a knee problem. Gabriel is fit to start alongside William Saliba at centre-back as usual.
Declan Rice and Kai Havertz are back in the Premier League team, while there are places on the bench for the fit-again Kieran Tierney and young defender Josh Nichols.

Lopetegui confident touchline ban won't affect West Ham
Julen Lopetegui will not be in the dugout for West Ham this evening as he serves an automatic one-match touchline ban after collecting his third yellow card of the season in Monday night’s crucial 2-0 win at Newcastle that may have gone a long way to saving his job, with some reports suggesting that both that game and tonight’s visit of Arsenal to the London Stadium were “make or break” in terms of his Hammers future after a hugely disappointing start to his tenure.
Assistant head coach Pablo Sanz will presumably take the lead for West Ham today, with Lopetegui confident that his absence won’t play a major role.
“It is about the players on the pitch and on the bench, who are ready to help the team to be able to compete against the best team in the Premier League, in my opinion,” he said.
