Liverpool XI vs Girona: Predicted lineup, confirmed team news, injury latest for Champions League today

Alisson back in Reds squad for Spain trip, but still no Diogo Jota or Federico Chiesa

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has confirmed he has no plans to rotate his side tonight against Girona.

The Reds currently sit top of the Champions League table after amassing maximum points from their five games thus far, having made light work of Real Madrid last time out in their rousing 2-0 victory at Anfield.

While Slot’s side were handed a weekend off after Saturday’s Merseyside derby clash at Everton was postponed following Storm Darragh hitting the UK, the fact that Liverpool are in such a good position could have afforded a potential chance for rotation.

Diogo Jota and Alisson Becker were both spotted back in training at Kirkby ahead of the flight to Spain on Monday, though only the latter was then named in their 19-man travelling squad.

“We will start with a very good line-up tomorrow.”

Summer signing Federico Chiesa won’t be involved again due to illness, while defenders Conor Bradley, Ibrahima Konate and Kostas Tsimikas are all out injured.

Alexis Mac Allister is suspended after picking up three yellow cards in the Champions League so far this season, while he will also see his one-match Premier League ban - originally supposed to be served against Everton - carry over to Saturday’s Premier League visit of Fulham.

Predicted Liverpool XI: Alisson; Quansah, Gomez, Van Dijk, Robertson; Gravenberch, Jones, Szoboszlai, Salah, Gakpo, Nunez

Injured: Bradley, Konate, Tsimikas, Jota, Chiesa (ill)

Suspended: Mac Allister

Time and date: 5:45pm GMT on Tuesday, December 10, 2024

Venue: Estadi Montilivi, Girona

TV channel: TNT Sports
