Julian Alvarez’s representative has dismissed speculation linking the forward with Liverpool. Recent reports had suggested that the Reds showed interest in signing the Argentine, even claiming that in 2024 they proposed a swap deal to Manchester City involving Luis Diaz.

“Liverpool never made any official bids for Julian last season. Those claims are untrue. The same applies to last summer—there were no approaches because Atletico Madrid had no intention of selling him, so no talks ever happened,” Fernando Hidalgo told Erem News.

When asked about Alvarez’s possible involvement in the Champions League clash with Liverpool on September 17, Hidalgo replied:
“I can’t confirm that at this point—it’s up to the coaching staff. What I can say is Julian is fully dedicated to Atletico and completely focused on serving the club’s interests.”

Meanwhile, separate reports suggest that those close to Alvarez feel he may have made the wrong choice by joining Atletico Madrid.
