£30m West Ham move, Chelsea snub - Aaron Ramsdale Arsenal transfer verdict

Should Arsenal sell or keep Aaron Ramsdale this summer? PaperTalk writers have their say on the goalkeeper's future!

It's possible Aaron Ramsdale leaves Arsenal this summer as the goalkeeper seeks regular first team football. David Raya replaced the 26-year-old as the Gunners No.1 last season and minutes have been hard to come by for the England international.

Becoming a fan favourite following his move from Sheffield United in August 2021, Ramsdale impressed between the posts for two years before Mikel Arteta decided to sign Raya on loan last summer. The Spaniard completed a permanent move to Emirates Stadium earlier this month and this has cast further doubt on Ramsdale's Arsenal future.

PaperTalk understands that if Ramsdale were to leave then it would most likely be in a permanent deal, although it's unclear at this stage how much the north Londoners want for the former Bournemouth man. With Ramsdale not expected to join up with his Arsenal teammates for pre-season until next week due to his involvement with England at Euro 2024, it could be a busy August for the shot stopper as he seeks clarification on his future.

So, should Edu and Arteta look to cash in on Ramsdale? Or should they look to keep him so the Gunners have a quality back up to Raya? PaperTalk writers have their say below!

Before David Raya cemented himself as Arsenal's undisputed No.1, Mikel Arteta had seemingly created a problem out of nothing at Emirates Stadium. Dropping Ramsdale for Raya caused a lot of noise and seeing the Englishman pictured on the bench throughout the season was a distraction at first.

With Arsenal's impressive defensive performances and Raya performing very well, things soon calmed down and Ramsdale was somewhat forgotten about. At 26 Ramsdale still has a bright future ahead of him and it's clear, to me, he must move on from Emirates Stadium this summer. He could be England's No.1 at the World Cup in 2026 but that will not happen if he remains back up to Raya.
